Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that Russia will not be participating in the upcoming world junior hockey championship in Alberta.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Russian athletes will not be permitted to compete in the upcoming World Junior Championship in Alberta. Speaking to CPAC on Tuesday, Carney stated that as long as Russia and Belarus continue their war in Ukraine, athletes from those nations will not be allowed to participate in Canada.
The announcement follows an October 30 ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport requiring the IIHF to allow Russia's return. Hockey Canada backed the government's stance, while multiple European federations—including Finland, Sweden, and Czechia—have also pledged to boycott games against Russia.
