Blackhawks preseason storylines revisited: Goaltending battles that weren’t

The Chicago Blackhawks concluded a shortened preseason training camp without any notable competition for their goaltending positions. The coaching staff opted to utilize lineups based on data from last season to optimize the truncated camp, leaving limited opportunities for bubble players. Goaltender Drew Commesso did not receive any game action during the preseason as a result.

Instead of testing alternatives, the team chose to award two starts each to Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom to prepare for the regular season. Knight enters the campaign as the uncontested starting netminder after appearing in 55 games last season, while Commesso served as the backup in three exhibition contests.
