The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forward Dominic Toninato to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, according to a team announcement. Toninato is expected to suit up for Rockford against the Grand Rapids Griffins. The move allows Chicago to preserve his waiver eligibility during a five-day break in their schedule.
Toninato must appear in an AHL game to remain eligible for another recall before Chicago's next contest on October 23. The 32-year-old forward has gone scoreless in three NHL appearances this season, with injured forward Andrew Mangiapane expected to return soon.
