Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson lives in the heads of just about every hockey fan outside of Ohio. Every time there is a player brought up that Columbus should trade, it's him. It's time to stop that. Sure, he's…

Writer Jason Newland argues that outside trade speculation surrounding Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson should end. Despite ongoing rumors mentioned by outlets such as The Fourth Period, Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell and head coach Rick Bowness have repeatedly indicated their commitment to giving the 23-year-old forward every opportunity to succeed.
Johnson has opened the season playing on Columbus' top line alongside Adam Fantilli and Matthew Knies, tallying two points across his first two games. Newland asserts that unless an opposing team makes an overwhelming trade offer to Waddell, external trade discussions regarding Johnson should cease.
