The Dallas Stars continue to have a fantastic season, but it is clear GM Jim Nill wants to sign Jason Robertson long-term, but the dollar amount just went up.

The Dallas Stars are prioritizing a long-term contract extension for left wing Jason Robertson, according to discussions reported by Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio. Dallas general manager Jim Nill reportedly plans to begin formal extension talks in December, with an agreement eligible to be signed starting January 1. While Robertson aims to stay in Dallas, his asking price is expected to rise depending on his current season performance.
Dallas is projected to have approximately $35 million in salary cap space next season, significantly easing previous financial restrictions as Tyler Seguin's $9.85 million contract comes off the books. Although a previous one-year, $12 million contract provided short-term cap relief, analysts suggest a potential long-term extension could range between $15 million and $18 million annually over a maximum term of seven years.
