Logan Horn of The Hockey Writers outlines six bold predictions for the Detroit Red Wings ahead of their 2026-27 NHL season opener. Horn predicts that Detroit will finish last in the competitive Atlantic Division due to roster deficiencies and internal turmoil, including Dylan Larkin wanting out and Simon Edvinsson's ongoing contract stalemate.
Among other predictions, Horn expects Larkin to remain with Detroit until the trade deadline and Edvinsson to hold out until late November. Additionally, the writer forecasts Anton Johansson surpassing Axel Sandin Pellikka for ice time, Alex DeBrincat scoring his 300th career goal against Chicago, and Michael Brandsegg-Nygård recording 20 goals and 200 hits.
