Coach McLellan emphasized caution alongside early urgency, noting that home openers can often feature sloppy play and emotional unpredictability. With seven of their first eight games scheduled at home, McLellan stated that Detroit must capitalize on a favorable opening schedule and minimize unforced mistakes.
