Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan admitted his team cannot overcome minor mistakes because they lack sufficient scoring power following a 4-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. McLellan highlighted extended shifts and shooting pucks over the glass as critical errors that the roster simply cannot survive given their offensive struggles.
The Red Wings dropped to 4-4-3 on the season after managing only a single goal against Calgary despite outshooting the Flames 29-25. Detroit suffered from 21 giveaways during the game and was held to two goals or fewer for the fifth time through 11 contests.
