The Edmonton Oilers have been off to a hot start to the season and so too have a number of depth players, 3 in specific have exceeded expectations to start

Sean Mallon of Oil On Whyte argues that Edmonton Oilers depth contributors Ryan Shea, Max Jones, and Devon Levi are surpassing early-season expectations. Beyond star players like Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard, Mallon highlights the supporting cast's defensive and depth contributions during the team's strong start to the 2026-27 NHL season.
According to the analysis, Shea has logged heavy minutes while recording three points in five games. Meanwhile, Jones provides steady checking despite early minus ratings, and goaltender Levi has rebounded from a difficult seven-goal outing with two strong starts posting save percentages above .930.
