Panthers’ Claws and Flaws: Anton Lundell steals the show in win over Jets

Anton Lundell recorded his first career NHL hat trick to guide the Florida Panthers to a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at Amerant Bank Arena. The 25-year-old Finnish center sealed the win with an empty-net goal, marking Florida's fifth individual hat trick during the month of October. Defenseman Seth Jones also contributed significantly to the victory, posting a three-point performance with one goal and two assists.

Goaltender Akira Schmid made enough stops to improve his season record to 5-2-1, conceding goals to Kyle Connor and Morgan Barron. Writer Ryan Gagne argues that while Schmid allowed two saveable goals that kept Winnipeg competitive, Jones' strong play deserves recognition in the early Norris Trophy conversation. Florida next hosts the Detroit Red Wings on Monday night.
