The Florida Panthers go into their third game of the new season with injuries creating the biggest headlines, which was the case during the 2025-26 campaign.
The Florida Panthers visit the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night without captain Aleksander Barkov, who was placed on long-term injured reserve following a lower-body injury. Barkov was hurt during Florida's 4-3 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday and must miss at least 10 games. Panthers head coach Paul Maurice confirmed the injury is unrelated to Barkov's previous knee surgery.
Florida also remains without Gustav Forsling, Brad Marchand, and Jonah Gadjovich, prompting the recalls of Sam Lafferty and Alexander Petrovic. Meanwhile, the Ducks enter Sunday's matchup following a 4-3 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in their season opener on Friday.
