Darcy Kuemper stopped 26 of 28 shots in a strong return to Crypto.com Arena, but the Kings’ power play and offense couldn’t do enough in a 2-1 loss to Florida.

Darcy Kuemper made 26 saves on 28 shots, but the Los Angeles Kings suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Florida Panthers in their home opener at Crypto.com Arena. The loss dropped the Kings to an 0-3 record to start the season. Alex Laferriere opened the scoring for Los Angeles late in the first period, but Florida responded with goals from Seth Jones and Matthew Tkachuk to secure the victory.
The Kings failed to capitalize on special teams, finishing 0-for-5 on the power play despite holding a 66-second five-on-three advantage. Meanwhile, Florida overcame key absences and the mid-game loss of Brad Marchand to an apparent injury, with goaltender Jacob Markström turning aside late pressure to seal the win.
