Mats Zuccarello discussed his return to the Los Angeles Kings' lineup following a shoulder injury that disrupted his training camp and caused him to miss several weeks on injured reserve. Zuccarello played in the Kings' recent victory against the Washington Capitals, noting that he is still working on his timing and conditioning as he adapts to a new organization and system. Head coach Peter Laviolette praised Zuccarello's offensive impact following his return to game action.

Although Byfield traveled with the Kings to New York, the team recalled forward Jared Wright from the AHL's Ontario Reign as a precautionary measure ahead of their upcoming game against the New York Islanders.
