Ten active NHL franchises have never won the Stanley Cup throughout their histories. The list includes the Buffalo Sabres, Columbus Blue Jackets, modern Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken, Utah Mammoth, Vancouver Canucks, and Winnipeg Jets. Several of these franchises have reached the Stanley Cup Final without securing a title, while newer expansion teams continue building toward their first championship.
The Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks have each suffered multiple Stanley Cup Final defeats, with Vancouver losing Game 7 matchups in both 1994 and 2011. Other teams, such as the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators, experienced prolonged periods of regular-season success and reached the Final once before falling short against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
