The veteran defenseman showed grit by sacrificing his body on a crucial penalty kill, but the Wild now face uncertainty after their leader hobbled to the locker room.

Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon exited Tuesday night's game against Utah following an apparent injury in the second period. The veteran defenseman blocked two consecutive slap shots from Utah forward Dylan Guenther just 15 seconds apart while Minnesota was killing a penalty.
Despite visibly struggling to move after the first block, Spurgeon blocked the second shot and cleared the puck. He then slowly skated to the bench and headed down the tunnel, with the Wild yet to provide an official update on his status.
