The Montreal Canadiens' makeshift second line of Jake Evans, Chris Kreider and Josh Anderson stepped up in a big way in their 5-4 win over the Penguins.

The Montreal Canadiens extended their winning streak to five games with a 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite missing Kirby Dach to illness and Nick Suzuki to injury, Montreal relied on its secondary scoring to secure the win. The newly assembled second line of Jake Evans, Chris Kreider, and Josh Anderson proved decisive by combining for three of the team's five goals.
Anderson scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, while Kreider snapped a scoring drought by finding the net on three consecutive attempts against Penguins goaltender Sergei Murashov. Evans contributed an assist, recorded a +4 rating, and won 68.8% of his faceoffs. The author notes that Montreal's depth scoring and goaltending from Jacob Fowler have transformed the team beyond relying solely on its top line.
