Canadiens Have Their Eye on Other Red Wings Trade Candidate

The Montreal Canadiens reportedly hold strong interest in acquiring Detroit Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson via trade. According to insider David Pagnotta on DFO Insider, the Canadiens are monitoring Edvinsson as a potential target alongside their ongoing pursuit of Detroit forward Dylan Larkin. Detroit is reportedly open to receiving future assets for the 23-year-old Swedish blueliner.

Writer Nestor Quixtan notes that Montreal possesses sufficient prospect capital to structure a competitive permanent trade package without surrendering top prospect Michael Hage. Quixtan also highlights that navigating a current defensive logjam on Montreal's blue line might require the Canadiens to send NHL-ready defensemen to Detroit as part of any finalized transaction.
