The San Jose Sharks overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night. Despite Montreal controlling puck possession and establishing a 3-1 lead through goals from Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Cole Caufield, San Jose mounted a comeback. Macklin Celebrini scored twice for the Sharks, including an unassisted first-period marker and the overtime winner on a power play.
Michael Misa and Tyler Toffoli also scored for the Sharks to force extra time after Montreal surrendered unanswered third-period goals. Slafkovsky, Suzuki, and Caufield each finished the contest with a goal and an assist for the Canadiens, while goaltender Jakub Dobes was assessed an overtime interference penalty that led directly to Celebrini's game-winning goal.
