The Habs played one of their more complete games of the early season in Washington on Wednesday night. However, they couldn't get the key stop when they needed one from Jakub Dobes, allowing the Capitals to get the 5-4 victory.

The Montreal Canadiens suffered a 5-4 regulation loss to the Washington Capitals despite controlling much of the game and holding strong possession numbers. Josh Anderson scored two goals for Montreal, while Lane Hutson and Nick Suzuki also found the net. Washington secured the win with goals from Jordan Kyrou, Ivan Miroshnichenko, Justin Holl, and a two-goal performance from Alex Tuch.
Kevin Leveille argues that Montreal deserved a better result but was hindered by netminder Jakub Dobes struggling to produce crucial momentum-shifting saves. Leveille highlighted strong chemistry on Montreal's second forward line featuring Anderson, Alex Newhook, and Chris Kreider, whose forechecking and playmaking created multiple scoring opportunities against Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren.
