Phillip Danault expressed pride in reaching the milestone of 800 NHL games, joking that much of that time was spent backchecking. Around the Montreal Canadiens, goaltender Jacob Fowler earned NHL Rookie of the Month honors for October, while head coach Martin St-Louis praised the fourth line's physical play and Chris Kreider's growing comfort with the team.
Elsewhere across the NHL, the Seattle Kraken traded Shane Wright to the Nashville Predators, and the Washington Capitals acquired goaltender Remi Poirier from the New Jersey Devils. Additionally, Connor McDavid paced the league's monthly honors after tallying 35 points in October, while New York Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock faces two to four weeks out with an upper-body injury.
