The Montreal Canadiens announced they have recalled goaltender Jacob Fowler from the team’s AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket. Fowler’s recall is, at first glance, a response to the apparent injury suffered by goaltender Samuel Montembeault at Montreal’s practice earlier today.
The Montreal Canadiens have recalled goaltender Jacob Fowler from their AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket. The roster move follows an apparent leg injury suffered by goaltender Samuel Montembeault during practice, leaving him questionable for tomorrow's home game against the Nashville Predators. Head coach Martin St. Louis noted Montembeault was still being evaluated.
Fowler joins Jakub Dobes on the NHL roster after previously posting a 9-6-2 record in 17 games with Montreal last season. The 21-year-old began the current AHL campaign with a .945 save percentage in two games for Laval, earning the recall over veteran Kaapo Kahkonen.
