Dougie Hamilton is playing like a first-line defenseman again

Pucks and Pitchforks highlights Dougie Hamilton's resurgence as a top-line defenseman for the New Jersey Devils following a challenging previous season. Writer Nick Villano reports that Hamilton has excelled alongside Luke Hughes in driving the Devils' recent defensive turnaround, generating heavy shot volume while remaining completely disciplined without a single penalty called against him so far this year.

The article notes that Hamilton's partnership with Jonas Siegenthaler ranks fourth in the NHL in expected goals percentage among qualifying pairs, according to MoneyPuck. Villano credits Devils executive Sunny Mehta with publicly backing Hamilton and shutting down prior trade speculation, arguing that Hamilton's strong play solidifies New Jersey's status as a genuine contender.
