The New Jersey Devils have placed veteran forward Stefan Noesen on waivers, according to a report by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. The move marks the first time Noesen has been exposed to waivers since the 2020-21 season. The 13-year NHL veteran had seen his role diminish significantly, recording no points while averaging just 7:24 of ice time across two games to start the 2026-27 season.
The roster decision was reportedly triggered by a need for defensive depth following an undisclosed injury to defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler. With only five other defensemen available, New Jersey cleared a forward spot to add blue-line cover. Noesen, who is in the final stretch of a three-year, $8.25 million contract carrying a $2.75 million annual cap hit, is widely expected to clear waivers.
