With games against the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, and Vegas Golden Knights this week, the Devils will find out how good their top-end talent and roster altogether are.

The Hockey News argues that the New Jersey Devils now boast a core capable of competing against any NHL team following the acquisition of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Alongside Hellebuyck, New Jersey's leading group features forwards Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Bratt, as well as defenseman Luke Hughes. This rebuilt foundation faces an immediate test during an upcoming road swing featuring matchups against the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, and Vegas Golden Knights.
The writer notes that recent depth additions by general manager Sunny Mehta provide New Jersey an edge on lower forward lines over aging Western Conference contenders. Although Hellebuyck has yet to play NHL action this season and may require time to reach top form, the Devils previously defeated the Avalanche 4-3 on October 20.
