Mathew Barzal remains sidelined as the shorthanded squad heads west, forcing a roster shuffle after fresh injuries to Matias Maccelli and Cal Ritchie impacted the forward depth.

Injured forwards Mathew Barzal, Matias Maccelli, and Cal Ritchie will not accompany the New York Islanders on their three-game road trip, according to head coach Pete DeBoer. The road trip includes matchups against the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, and Minnesota Wild.
Barzal continues skating individually while recovering from left knee inflammation, with no set timeline for his team practice return. Meanwhile, Maccelli faces two to four weeks out, and Ritchie is sidelined for four to six weeks following lower-body injuries sustained against Toronto. The Islanders recalled forward Mitchell Chaffee from AHL Hamilton to assist with forward depth.
