Nikita Kucherov’s bombshell exit demand sent shockwaves through Tampa Bay, sparking immediate speculation that New York Islanders GM Mathieu Darche will move aggressively to land the elite playmaker.
Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov has requested a trade and informed the club he will not re-sign. Kucherov is currently playing in the final season of an eight-year contract that pays him an average of $9.5 million per year, which includes a 10-team modified no-trade clause.
The trade request has fueled speculation linking Kucherov to the New York Islanders, where former Lightning assistant general manager Mathieu Darche serves as GM. While Tampa Bay's asking price remains unknown, the Islanders are reportedly viewed as potential suitors to pair Kucherov with defenseman Matthew Schaefer.
