The New York Rangers can finally get their Igor Shesterkin replacement by adding this $51 million all-star goalie.

A PuckGM fan proposal highlights a potential trade to help the New York Rangers replace injured starting goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who is sidelined for the season. The proposed deal sends Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson to the Rangers, with Detroit retaining 50 percent of his salary, in exchange for defenseman Braden Schneider and goaltender Spencer Martin.
Writer Caleb Kerney argues the trade would benefit both clubs by saving the Rangers $3.15 million in salary cap space while acquiring an experienced starter. Kerney notes that offseason additions Marcus Pettersson and Sean Durzi could make Schneider expendable on New York's blue line.
