A strong start wasn't enough for the Wolf Pack, who open their eight-game road trip with a tough loss.

The Hartford Wolf Pack opened an eight-game road trip with a 3-2 defeat against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday night. Glenn Gawdin put Hartford ahead in the second period, but the Penguins rallied in the third frame with goals from Finn Harding and Tristan Broz after a Wolf Pack goal was disallowed on an offside review.
Juuso Pärssinen tied the contest at 2-2 on a late six-on-four power play for Hartford. However, less than a minute later, Owen Pickering scored the game-winner on a slap shot past goaltender Callum Tung to secure the victory for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
