Contract talks between the Detroit Red Wings and Simon Edvinsson continue amid trade rumors, while Zach Whitecloud and Morgan Frost could be valuable trade chips for the rebuilding Calgary Flames.
Contract negotiations between the Detroit Red Wings and restricted free agent defenseman Simon Edvinsson remain stalled. According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Edvinsson prefers a trade, though he has not formally requested one, while Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff maintains signing him is the priority despite listening to trade offers. About 10 teams, including the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks, are reportedly interested.
Meanwhile, the Calgary Flames could emerge as trade deadline sellers following early-season struggles. Daily Faceoff's Mike Gould identified defenseman Zach Whitecloud and pending unrestricted free agent center Morgan Frost as Calgary's top potential trade assets.
