Ottawa Senators forward William Eklund will miss 10 to 12 weeks following surgery on a torn ankle tendon, head coach Travis Green announced Thursday. The injury occurred during the first period of Ottawa's 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on October 8 after a hit into the boards by defenseman Simon Benoit left Eklund unable to put weight on his left leg.
The 24-year-old forward has recorded two points in four games during the current campaign. Originally drafted seventh overall by the San Jose Sharks in 2021, Eklund was traded to the Senators on June 23 and has amassed 165 career NHL points in 256 games.
