Senators gift the Flyers their first win of the season

The Philadelphia Flyers earned their first victory of the season by defeating the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Philadelphia had entered the contest winless across their first nine starts of the campaign. Matvei Michkov scored the eventual game-winning power-play goal for the Flyers, capitalizing on an exhausted Ottawa squad that was playing its fifth game in eight days.

Ottawa has struggled offensively despite a 6-3 start, dropping two of their last five contests while dealing with multiple roster injuries. The Senators' power-play unit struggled once again, converting only 12.8% of chances this season. Injuries have mounted for Ottawa with Thomas Chabot joining Jake Sanderson and William Eklund on the sidelines ahead of an upcoming game against Brady Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers.
