Former Flyers forward Claude Giroux assisted on Yakemchuk's game-winning one-timer from the blue line, while Nick Cousins added Ottawa's other goal. The result handed Philadelphia its fifth consecutive defeat to open the season.
Matvei Michkov scored the lone goal for the Flyers on a second-period power play. Goaltender Linus Ullmark made 29 saves to secure the win for Ottawa, withstanding late pressure with an extra attacker, while Philadelphia goaltender Joseph Woll stopped 24 shots in the loss.
