In hockey, there is no shortage of talk about answering the bell, standing up for your teammates and showing up when it matters most. On Wednesday night, the Ottawa Senators did all three.
The Hockey Writers argues that the Ottawa Senators delivered their most complete performance of the season in an emotionally charged victory over the Florida Panthers. Facing former captain Brady Tkachuk in his return to Ottawa, the Senators controlled play, countered Florida's trademark aggression, and generated roughly 59 percent of the expected goals.
Tim Stützle, Shane Pinto, and Warren Foegele provided offensive production for Ottawa, while defenseman Jake Sanderson played 22 minutes. However, Ottawa goaltender Linus Ullmark left the game with an injury in the third period and was placed on injured reserve Thursday, prompting Samuel Ersson to enter in relief.
