Earlier this week, the 10-year veteran was named the 11th captain in Ottawa team history and its first Francophone leader.

The Ottawa Senators have named defenseman Thomas Chabot as the 11th captain in franchise history. Chabot, who has spent his entire career in Ottawa after debuting in 2016-17, succeeds Brady Tkachuk following Tkachuk's trade to the Florida Panthers. Senators head coach Travis Green and general manager Steve Staios cited Chabot's decade-long tenure, leadership through adversity, and dressing-room presence as deciding factors.
Chabot credited retired Boston Bruins legend Patrice Bergeron as an early role model, having trained alongside him in Quebec. His appointment also marks a franchise milestone, as Chabot becomes Ottawa's first Francophone captain.
