Pittsburgh Penguins forward Ben Kindel was hospitalized in Salt Lake City on Tuesday following a medical emergency on the team's flight home. The team's aircraft returned to the Salt Lake City airport shortly after takeoff while the team's medical staff tended to the 19-year-old player, who was subsequently taken by ambulance to the University of Utah hospital.
The emergency occurred following a four-game trip for the Penguins, which concluded with a 5-4 loss against Utah on Monday night where Kindel played nearly 19 minutes. Selected 11th overall in the 2025 draft, the second-year forward has recorded two goals and two assists in nine appearances this season.
