A notable medical expert explained the vasovagal episode afflicting Pittsburgh Penguins forward Ben Kindel.

Interventional cardiologist Dr. Jay Charania spoke to Heavy to explain the recent health scare experienced by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Ben Kindel. Team general manager and president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas previously announced that Kindel had suffered a vasovagal episode. Dr. Charania noted that while these fainting episodes can be alarming, they are common, usually benign physiological reactions to specific triggers rather than indicators of heart disease.
Kindel was placed on injured reserve to undergo a comprehensive battery of cardiac and neurological evaluations to rule out underlying conditions. Dr. Charania noted that Kindel was cleared to fly back to Pittsburgh within 48 hours, suggesting preliminary tests were normal. The specialist indicated that Kindel may not need to miss more than the required seven days on injured reserve if further testing shows no issues.
