Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs was named the starting goalie for Saturday's home matchup against the Dallas Stars. Coach Dan Muse announced the decision approximately two hours prior to the game. Silovs enters the contest with a 2-1-0 record, a 3.38 goals against average, an .859 save percentage, and one shutout on the season, facing Dallas for the first time in his career.
The Stars are scheduled to counter in goal with Jake Oettinger, who holds a 2-1-0 record and a 0.67 goals against average this season. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh defenseman Ilya Solovyov cleared waivers and was assigned to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, while forward Andrei Kuzmenko remains listed as non-roster.
