Pens Points: Spencer Stastney adjusting to new surroundings

Defenseman Spencer Stastney made his Pittsburgh Penguins debut in a 3-2 shootout victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday. The 26-year-old was recently acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forward Filip Hallander. Skated alongside Kris Letang, Stastney earned praise from coach Dan Muse for his skating, anticipation, and quick adjustment to the team.

Elsewhere around the franchise and the league, Pittsburgh assigned defenseman Ilya Solovyov to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton after clearing waivers, while former Penguin Mathew Dumba announced his retirement. Across the NHL, New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin is out for the season, Carolina remains open to re-signing Alexander Nikishin, and New Jersey forward Evan Rodrigues was fined $5,000 for high-sticking.
