Colorado secures three out of four points on the back-to-back.

The Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in a shootout on Wednesday night in Denver. Roope Hintz scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout, beating goaltender Scott Wedgewood with a wrist shot. The victory allowed Dallas to earn a split in the home-and-home, back-to-back series between the two Central Division rivals after Colorado won by the same score the previous evening in Texas.
Colorado overcame adversity during the contest, which included having two early goals disallowed and conceding a shorthanded goal before rallying to force overtime. The matchup also marked the return of Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar, who was back in the lineup after welcoming twins.
