The San Jose Sharks will be without winger Igor Chernyshov for an extended stretch after he suffered an upper-body injury Thursday night against the Ottawa Senator, via Sharks insider Sheng Peng.
San Jose Sharks winger Igor Chernyshov is facing an extended absence after suffering an upper-body injury against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. The 20-year-old exited during the first period after blocking a slapshot from Senators defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky confirmed Chernyshov will be out "for a while," with further evaluations scheduled for Friday to determine a clearer recovery timeline.
Following the injury, Collin Graf stepped into Chernyshov's top-line and power-play positions, recording a goal and an assist during San Jose's 6-2 victory. Chernyshov had tallied four points through 10 games this season while playing significant top-six minutes. Depth forwards Adam Gaudette and Ty Dellandrea are expected to take on expanded roles during his upcoming absence.
