San Jose Sharks winger Igor Chernyshov left Thursday night’s matchup win over the Ottawa Senators in the first period after blocking a slapshot from Senators defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo.
San Jose Sharks winger Igor Chernyshov will miss "a while" after sustaining an upper-body injury during Thursday's win against the Ottawa Senators. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky confirmed the timeline after Chernyshov exited the game in the first period. The injury occurred when Chernyshov blocked a slapshot from Senators defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo.
Following Chernyshov's departure, Collin Graf was promoted to San Jose's top line and power-play unit, recording a goal and an assist. Chernyshov has posted four points in 10 games this season, and the team expects to further assess the full extent of his injury on Friday.
