Ivar Stenberg has a new home. The 2026 No. 2 pick is living with San Jose Sharks legend Joe Thornton…

San Jose Sharks rookie Ivar Stenberg has moved in with franchise legend Joe Thornton ahead of his NHL debut. The 2026 No. 2 draft pick is following the path of captain Macklin Celebrini, who also lived with Thornton during his first two seasons in the league. Stenberg explained that both general manager Mike Grier and the team felt living with a veteran mentor was the best arrangement.
Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky highlighted the value of Thornton's guidance in helping the 19-year-old decompress and navigate the emotional demands of professional hockey. Beyond adjusting to the NHL, Stenberg admitted that adapting to life off the ice includes driving Celebrini's former car and contending with what he called "crazy" American drivers.
