The St. Louis Blues could be the difference-makers in a potential Connor Hellebuyck blockbuster trade.

The St. Louis Blues could serve as the catalyst in a potential three-team blockbuster trade involving Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck and Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Alexander Nikishin. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Hurricanes are actively pursuing Hellebuyck, but Winnipeg is hesitant to take Nikishin without an extension. Consequently, Carolina has granted teams permission to speak with Nikishin to explore a multi-team deal that satisfies all parties.
Bleedin' Blue highlights that the Blues have consistently pursued Nikishin to address their defensive needs, especially after Logan Mailloux suffered a hand injury. In a proposed framework, Carolina would receive Hellebuyck, St. Louis would land Nikishin, and the Jets would receive NHL-ready assets from the Blues.
