The Lightning forward posted a big night recently for Syracuse, and maybe he could soon be ready to make an impact again in the NHL…

Writer Harrison Smajovits argues that the Tampa Bay Lightning should be encouraged by forward Jakob Pelletier's strong play in the AHL. Pelletier recently scored a hat trick for the Syracuse Crunch in a 7-2 win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The performance brought his season tally to four goals and three assists in nine games following a slow start.
Smajovits suggests that while Pelletier may not become an elite star, the 25-year-old could provide valuable bottom-six depth for the Lightning later this season. Pelletier previously recorded 77 points in 66 AHL games last season to earn AHL Player of the Year honors, though he went scoreless in five NHL appearances with Tampa Bay.
