Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy laughed off suggestions of a $25 million annual salary while reiterating that spending his entire career with Tampa Bay remains a top priority. With one season remaining on his contract after the current campaign, Vasilevskiy expressed a desire to retire in Tampa, noting that finishing his career with a single franchise would be his second-biggest accomplishment after winning the Stanley Cup.
Vasilevskiy also addressed teammate Nikita Kucherov, who reportedly does not plan to re-sign and hopes to be traded. Writer Jim Parsons argues that Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois is unlikely to offer an exorbitant contract, pointing to past hard-line negotiations that previously led to Steven Stamkos' departure.
