The setback in regulation to the Calgary Flames wasn’t the only loss suffered by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday evening in what was their final appearance at the Scotiabank Saddledome, barring a matchup this spring in the Stanley Cup…

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Jim Hiller offered a concerning postgame update on forward Kirill Marchenko following Monday's loss to the Calgary Flames. Marchenko was injured during the second period after an awkward collision with Flames forward Yegor Sharangovich and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Hiller stated afterward that Marchenko's inability to return to the contest was never a good sign.
The potential absence adds to mounting injury troubles for Toronto, which is already playing without veteran contributors John Tavares and Chris Tanev. Marchenko, who was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a preseason blockbuster trade for a package including Matthew Knies, has tallied six goals and eight assists across 14 games this season.
