Writer Adam Martin proposes a trade pitch sending Toronto Maple Leafs forward Dakota Joshua and a 2027 sixth-round draft pick to the Nashville Predators in exchange for veteran defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin. Martin argues the swap would provide Toronto with needed defensive depth while addressing a surplus of bottom-six forwards.
Joshua recently finished an AHL conditioning stint following an abdominal injury, while Lyubushkin has appeared in only one game for Nashville this season on an expiring $3.25 million contract. The proposed permanent trade would see the salaries match, with Martin suggesting the draft pick balances Joshua's additional contract year.
