Sunday’s FTB: Real NHL hockey begins this week

The NHL regular season is set to begin this week, with clubs required to finalize salary-cap-compliant rosters by 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Toronto Maple Leafs are concluding team bonding in Arizona ahead of their season opener against the Montreal Canadiens scheduled for Tuesday.

While in Arizona, the Maple Leafs visited with the Mayich family before practicing at Arizona State University. In American Hockey League action, the Toronto Marlies opened their preseason schedule with a 3-1 defeat against the Rochester Americans.
