The Canucks put in a solid 40-minute effort but were unable to come up with a win, suffering a 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

The Vancouver Canucks surrendered a two-goal lead in the third period to fall 3–2 against the San Jose Sharks on October 29. Drew O’Connor opened the scoring for Vancouver in the first period, and Liam Öhgren doubled the advantage late in the second frame. However, San Jose mounted a comeback in the final period behind two goals from Will Smith and a game-winner from Mason Marchment.
Vancouver goaltender Leevi Meriläinen stopped 21 of 24 shots in the loss, while Yaroslav Askarov defended the net for the Sharks. Elias Pettersson assisted on O'Connor's opening goal to extend his personal point streak to six consecutive games. Despite holding a 6-on-4 power play advantage late in regulation, Vancouver was unable to generate an equalizer.
