Rebuilds are going to be tough — but did you think it would be this tough?

The Vancouver Canucks suffered their ninth consecutive defeat on Thursday night, losing 5-2 to the Detroit Red Wings. The Canucks experienced a severe offensive drought during the game, failing to record a single shot on goal throughout the second period. Forward Jake DeBrusk finally ended Vancouver's shotless streak at 6:16 of the third period, which drew sarcastic cheers from the home crowd.
Elias Pettersson scored a first-period power-play goal set up by Filip Hronek, but Vancouver struggled defensively as Kevin Lankinen allowed five goals, including early tallies by Detroit's Lucas Raymond and William Wallinder. Detroit goalie John Gibson left during the game due to an eye issue, allowing Michal Postava to make his NHL debut in relief.
